I watched Burn After Reading last night. Terrible. It was really terrible. It wasn't good. It's the kind of movie where people who think they're smart think they're supposed to like it so they say stupid comments like "A comedic masterpiece" (ahem - Larry King). There's nothing comedic about it. Yeah, it kind of ties itself up at the end, but that's not exactly a ringing endorsement is it? It just wasn't good. It wasn't entertaining. It wasn't highbrow. It was just crappy.

That doesn't stop so-called smart people from raving about how fantastic it is though. Like I said, it's the kind of movie where if you don't get it you're supposed to pretend that you do and that's it's so intellectual that it must be terrific. Well it's not. I understand it and I also understand that it sucked. The end.

Due to reader request, the movie gets a rating of 2. Would definitely return it if I received it as a gift, and I'd smack the person who gave it to me upside the head.

It had parts that made me laugh, but overall I just thought it was dumb. So I agree. Just shows you the crap Hollywood is producing lately. Anything that is remotely unique is lauded as a masterpiece.

I don't often agree with Timmy completely, but I do here. I haven't seen Burn After Reading but I am in agreement with his rant.

I remember seeing I Heart Huckabees and thinking the same thing -- idiotic and boring, but you were supposed to think it was clever.

The other experience I had with this was with Mel Brooks musical in NY, The Producers. People acted like it was the funniest shizzle they had ever seen... and it was barely funny at all. But you couldn't admit that or you'd be looked at funny.

Oh, by the way, what happened to the official TVF movie rating system? This one sounds like:

2: I would punch the person who bought this for me in the beanbag.

You're not the only one, Tim- lots of people on IMBD think this one's lousy.

I liked The Producers movie...but you know the old saying- movies about making a play don't always translate well to plays about making a play.

Did you at least like Sledge Hammer as the CIA agent? Those parts were amusing.
