The Cavs are struggling right now without Crazy Uncle Zydrunas in the lineup. He really helps spread the court on offense and he holds down the middle on defense. I'm not sure what that says about the quality of your team when you really depend on a slow lumbering white guy, but the Cavs definitely do.

I know, that's awesome!

The Yankees spent $423.5 million on three players and the Indians big moves were trading for Mark DeRosa and signing Kerry Wood and Carl Pavano to a total of $11.5 million in contracts.

Whoopee. It sure is great to not have a salary cap MLB!

The salary cap helps team at the bottom of the league, not the middle or top. The luxury tax paid by the Yankees alone makes the KC Royals a profitable team. Without it, the that team and others would be up to their eyeballs in red ink. I don't exactly like it, but there are 4 teams keep a number of other teams in the black by having such high payrolls.

Good point, Paul. But MLB needs a salary basement as well so those teams don't just pocket the money the luxury tax is giving them.
