I had my last bit of oral surgery today. I hope. That brings the final tally of teeth removed to six. They said they'd be able to close the gap completely in about three months. I took a total of three Motrin all day, and probably didn't even need those. I haven't felt pain at all and it didn't really start bleeding until I coughed several times and the blood clot came out. Then there was so much blood it was like I was in Rocky and was getting beaten about the face.

I had some Wendy's for lunch - more specifically a large Frosty, and when I would take a bite I'd get a nice spoonful of blood in return. It reminded me of the old Reese's commercial...

You got blood in my Frosty!

You got Frosty in my blood!

I was part of an investigation today. I had just got my car washed, and I was sitting at a stoplight getting ready to hop on the highway - not really paying much attention. Just then I heard a crash and a car skidding out of control. Apparently a Green Dodge Neon coupe headed down the offramp and kept going through a red light and rammed into a SUV going through that intersection. The Neon spun up and the SUV pulled off the road under a bridge. The Neon seemed to be following it, but then it got onto the highway. A Black Toyota Tundra going the opposite way of the original SUV stopped and apparently told the guy he saw everything and would follow the Neon. I followed the Neon too. The Neon went down to the next exit (with a completely shredded right front tire and the rim at an unhealthy angle). I got it's plate and talked to the guy in the Tundra at a stop light. The Tundra followed the Neon to a BP gas station and I went to a police sub-station. The Tundra blocked that guy in since he had called a Camry to come pick him up. I told the cops that the guy was at the BP and gave him the plates. Just them I see the Tundra coming up the road my way. We pulled off, exchanged info, and then he left and I went back to the BP to see what was happening. By then there were 3 cop cars from 2 different cities talking to the guy. I don't know if they were aware that the Camry was with that guy or not, because he was leaving and they didn't seem to care. So I followed that guy and he pulled off the road before getting on the highway. By then it was too late for me to inconspicuously go somewhere, so I just got on the highway and left.

That rocks the world!

Yeah!

That rocks my world!

Yeah!

I can't remember which, but they're both equally gay.
I am an American. That is the way most of us put it, just matter-of-factly. They are plain words those four. You could write them on your thumbnail, or you could sweep them clear across a bright autumn sky. But remember that they are more than just words. They are a way of life! So whenever you speak them, speak them firmly, speak them proudly, and speak them gratefully! I Am an American!

I was driving home tonight and I saw a car on fire spun around the opposite way that it should be on the highway. I have no idea what happened to them. The occupants were about 30 yards away and it looked like it just happened. It was a white Honda Accord coupe, probably a 2002-2003. I would think people would complain if their cars just burst into flames for no reason.

I called 911 for them and apparently I was the first one to do so because they hadn't heard about it yet.

Gran Turismo 4 came out for the PlayStation 2 today. I'll probably get it this weekend, even though I have a ton of other games I've either never played or played minimally.

I bought Kingdom Hearts about 2 years ago and have never played it; I don't even know where it is. I bought Sly Cooper 2 and never even took it out of plastic wrap. I am still in the process of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. I never finished Metroid Prime for GameCube. I only played Prince of Persia twice. I only played Tactics Ogre once. I've never played Advance Wars 2.

Apparently I love to buy things and never use them.

I think I have issues that need to be resolved.

Would you rather be able to solve a Rubik's Cube in under 2 minutes (without peeling the stickers off) or be able to do a 7 feet 3 and 1/4 inch standing long jump whenever the need arose?

Interesting choices.

I'm going with the Rubik's Cube as I can't recall the last time I was in dire need of a good standing long jump.

Hey, remember when I cancelled the season? I was just kidding. Game on.

No I mean it. Unless we don't agree to a $9.52 salary cap. Then it's back off. Unless they let me drive the Zamboni. Then it's back on.

For now though, it's definitely back on. Maybe. Off! It's off! All is lost!

The first game is tomorrow.

No! There will be no playoffs this year. We're not handing out the Stanley Cup this year!

Until 3 weeks from today, at the end of the playoffs, which are back off!

So I'll see you at the games in 6 days. When the season starts for sure.

The motherboard got here yesterday and was installed today. The RAM got here today but FedEx wouldn't leave it without a signature, so now I have to practically drive to Manitoba to pick it up. The USB 2.0 enclosure works like a champ.

Now I need something else to spend my money on.

The Browns cut Jeff Garcia... why stop there? There's another 54 cut worthy players there. Get chopping.
Am I the only one who is getting tired the NHL crying wolf constantly? It seems like every day for the past 3 weeks has been "the absolute last deadline -- after this we're cancelling the season!" Well cancel it already then. Break the union. That's what it will take. Don't tell me every day about how you plan on cancelling the season tomorrow.

Just freaking do it already.

The Cavs looked pretty good today. I don't know how long Newble is going to be out, and the second team is missing Varejaon a lot. I would have thought that Scott Williams would see some playing time with him out, but I thought wrong. The only time he ever gets off the bench is during a timeout.

I thought it was amusing that Kobe got booed every time he touched the ball. I was even more amused how the whole crowd was nearly drunk with euphoria when Zydrunas just kept nailing 15-20 foot jump shots in the 4th quarter. Mihm would give him about 5 feet and Z would just pop them in left and right. Another workman like 30 and 11 for him.

I ordered more RAM and a USB 2.0 external disk enclosure for the computer that isn't working properly yet. Yay for me.

Friday, February 11, 2005

Now I know why it took me so long to get my new computer up and running. It had a faulty motherboard. Dell is sending me another one. Hopefully it will get here soon.

There's something to be said about being a professor who has never stepped a foot into the real world. I have one who got a doctorate and immediately began teaching. This apparently has empowered her to make idiotic statements like "No one should be allowed to work in the same place for more than ten years." and "Carly Fiorina only got $21 million as a termination settlement from HP, but Jack Welch got over $100 million from GE when he left. The reason is because women are paid less than men."

Yeah. Thats the reason alright. It has nothing to do with the FACT that Fiorina drove HP into the toilet and that Welch turned GE into a worldwide powerhouse. Nothing at all.

He's a man. She's a woman. Discrimination must be the answer.

Idiot.

Does anyone know of a reputable and reasonably priced (no more than twice face value) broker or other way to get Super Bowl tickets? I'm in the market for next year.

Ideas are appreciated, but sources are better.

The list of remaining ballparks is up now. Some of the stadiums I've been to, but not for a game (Angels.) Some I've driven past, but never been in (White Sox.) Some places have built new stadiums since my last trip there (Padres.) Some teams have re-located so now I have to visit new crappy stadiums (Senators). Some stadiums probably just suck and that's why I haven't been there (Devil Rays.)

Anaheim Angels
Chicago Cubs
Chicago White Sox
Colorado Rockies
Florida Marlins
Kansas City Royals
Minnesota Twins
San Diego Padres
Seattle Mariners
St. Louis Cardinals
Tampa Bay Devil Rays
Toronto Blue Jays
Washington Senators

Possible trips based on these choices (in no particular order):

1. Anaheim and San Diego, with a side trip to Las Vegas
2. Chicago (Cubs and White Sox)
3. Kansas City and St. Louis
4. Florida and Tampa Bay
5. Minnesota, Colorado, Washington, and Seattle

I personally am in favor of trip number 5. It seems like the best way to minimize travel time and maximize "fun" time.

Talk amongst yourselves.

Check out this link. You can buy "Philadelphia Eagles - Super Bowl XXXIX Champions" products there.

Was I not paying close enough attention last night?

Sunday, February 6, 2005

Tom Brady, you've just won your third Super Bowl. What are you going to do now?

I'm going to Disney World!

Romeo Crennel, you've just coached your team to win it's third Super Bowl. What are you going to do now?

I'm going to Cleveland!

People forget that Crennel was the defensive coordinator here in Cleveland 4 years ago. Why do they think he is going to be the savior now? In the NFL it doesn't really matter who your coach is. The game is won in the trenches by the players. The Browns don't have the personnel to be respectable, and no coach is going to change that.

I bought a new computer and it's taking me forever to get it up to speed. Could that be because of school? Yes. Yes it could be. Is it? Yes. Yes it is.

With all these days free from thinking you'd think that I would have something interesting to say.

Well I don't.

Eagles - 20
