I didn't want to say it the last time, but I will this time. When I was in college, I went to the Purdue health center three times within a month for strep. The first two times they gave me antibiotics. The third time they called it "Mono".
Ed - I did the exact same thing while at Purdue, except the third time they wanted to take my tonsils out. I went to a different doctor, got a different med, and was fine after that.
Tim, amoxicillin is an old medication and what you had may have been resistant to it. The new med is a little stronger. But seeing as you had mono last year...

1) Did you take all your medication the first time?
2) Did they give you the same medication this time?
I had amoxicillin the first time and took all 20 pills over the course of 10 days.
This time they gave me something different: Duricef.

That would really suck because I had mono last year too.

Well, good luck with the new med.
I went to the Purdue Health Center for a cold and they required a rectal exam. In a closet. How unprofessional!
