If the Browns draft freaking Brady Quinn then I am going to be very angry. Hulk smash type angry.

Well, I'm not happy, but I'm not "Hulk smash type angry" either. They gave up a lot to get him but at least they didn't draft him at number 3. Sure, the first round pick they gave up next year will almost definitely be top 10, and possibly top 5 again, but at least they finally admitted that their team will only go as far as the offensive line will take them.

I think they should've drafted Mike Otto in the 7th round, as he was still available when they had their first 7th round pick. In my opinion, they needed to draft more line help than they did, but it could've went a lot worse if you ask me.

A major milestone was hit today. All of the invitations have been addressed. All that's left to do is stuff about 40 of them and then double, triple, and quadruple check the addresses on them. They should go out by Friday.

Saturday, April 28, 2007

Had you been in my house today, you would've thought that the Browns had won the Super Bowl. I was cheering and clapping like an idiot when they drafted Joe Thomas. Now they just need to draft 6 more offensive linemen...

So yesterday was Lindsay's surgery. She had an excisional biopsy on a lymph node on the left side of her next. Thankfully, it was infected. Why is that good? It most likely means that it wasn't cancerous. It will be a week before the results are back from pathology, but so far the doctors are cautiously optimistic.

Now for the gross part: when the doctor "grabbed" the lymph node, it squirted pus all over the place. They cleaned the area out and now have her on antibiotics. She has about a 1.5 inch incision on her neck. It will be a week before they take the sutures out. Eventually the scar will be non-existent. Her surgeon was a plastic surgeon, she he made the incision in the crease of her neck, so that eventually you won't be able to see it at all.

In other medical news, today was my grandmothers PET scan. I don't know when the results will be back from that, but if they're negative for cancer then she will officially be in remission.

I was offered tickets to the Cavs playoff game tonight. They were in the club level. Sadly I had to decline them because of prior commitments.

If the Browns draft freaking Brady Quinn then I am going to be very angry. Hulk smash type angry.

The last thing the Browns need is another quarterback! Address the root cause of the suck for once! They need an offensive line. Draft 7 offensive linemen! That way, then all of them get hurt while walking to the first practice of the season, you'll still have people capable of playing on the OFFENSIVE LINE!

In order words, take note: Your quarterback sucks. Your running back sucks. Your receivers suck. Your defense sucks. What do they all have in common?

Exhibit A: Quarterbacks. Your quarterbacks cannot stand upright for more than 1.5 seconds because THE OFFENSIVE LINE SUCKS!

Exhibit B: Running backs. Your running backs have no holes to run through and thus average -10 yards per carry because THE OFFENSIVE LINE SUCKS!

Exhibit C: Wide receivers. The receivers are just running track out there because the quarterback isn't upright long enough to throw them the ball because THE OFFENSIVE LINE SUCKS!

Exhibit D: Defense. The defense is on the field for 59 minutes a game because the offense goes 3 and out every single time. Why are the on the field for 59 minutes a game? Because THE OFFENSIVE LINE SUCKS!

I hope that you members of the jury hear the point that I'm trying to make. Let's all say it in unison...

So today was teacher evaluation day. Guess what that means? It means that my sucky professor did not hand out the evaluation forms. Obviously it's because he knows he's terrible and as such does not want to be evaluated. He also did not grade my test or paper yet. The very same paper that he has had for 3 weeks. Oh, I forgot to mention... he handed back almost everyone else's tests. Yay! Let's indiscriminately not grade exams and papers! Hooray.

We found the final reading for the wedding.

Deuteronomy 23:12-14

I think it's rather appropriate.

Dominion East Ohio has managed to screw me yet again. Last time they came out and read my meter, but did so incorrectly. I called them and they came out to read it again. This time they read it correctly but they didn't report it to their own freaking system. Now I have read my meter again, but I cannot report it because it's lower than the last incorrect meter reading that they have. Yay.

So while my gas bill should be negative this month, I'm placing bets on them actually billing me $12,000.

The Cavs pulled out the 2 seed in the East tonight. Everything seemed to fall perfectly into place, at least for one night. They beat Milwaukee. The Bulls lost to the Nets. The Wizards beat Indiana. It was the very best outcome possible.

That makes for a Cavs-Wizards series in the opening round. It's too bad that Arenas is hurt, because the playoff series last year was quite entertaining.

I don't know what to make of the Cavs chances this year. They just don't strike me as one of the elite teams in the league. For some reason they match up best against the Spurs, so if they were to get there, I guess I'd like to see the Spurs. But on second thought, I would like to see them play the Warriors in the Finals. The chances of that happening however, are... Not. Too. Good.

The Indians are the first team in nearly 55 years to win a game with their only hit coming in their first at-bat.

Grady Sizemore led off Cleveland's 2-1 win over the Chicago White Sox on Sunday with a double.

The Indians' output Sunday was the lowest hit total in a victory for the club since April 12, 1992, when they had no hits off Matt Young of Boston.

Now, it would seem that it would be hard to win a game in which you have no hits. It's happened more than you might though however. It happened twice in two years in the early 90's. On July 1, 1990 Andy Hawkins pitched a no-hitter for the Yankees, but his team lost 4-0 to the White Sox.

We had a tasting with the caterer on Saturday. We're awaiting pricing still, but we're likely going to go with the Apple Jack Chicken (pan fried chicken breast with granny smith apples in an apple butter sauce) and the Salmon Verblank (salmon with a champagne butter sauce.) I guess we like butter sauces.

We also tried lemon herb chicken and pork loin with an apple brandy sauce. All of them were delicious, but it looks like we'll only be able to pick two.

For the sides we're going with asparagus and red roasted potatoes. We're also having two salads - one a seasonal salad with fancy lettuce types and berries and a classic ceasar.

I know what you've been saying to yourself.

"Self. What's the latest crazy toy from Japan?"

Well. It's Russian Roulette. For kids. Great! It's just such a great idea on so many different levels. Why not start teaching your children that it's okay to shoot themselves in the head when they're still young and impressionable? If it's good enough for Japan then it's good enough for me.

Imus vs. the Billboard Hot Rap Tracks Chart(language warning)

It's a sad, sad state we are in these days - have you seen the Billboard Hot Rap Tracks chart this week?

Now don't get me wrong. I'm no supporter of Don Imus, but just read the article and come to your own conclusion...

Tonight, had the Indians actually had their home opener at... you know... their home, they would've given away Rick Vaughn glasses from Major League.

Ironic then, that they were actually playing in Milwaukee as the home team. The very same city where they filmed Major League.

I think, as an homage to nickel beer night, the Cleveland Indians should have $10 sit anywhere night. That seemed to work well for the Milwaukee Indians. Why not sell cheap tickets in order to fill up the stadium every night? Instead of 35,000 fans, why not have 42,000? Isn't some revenue better than no revenue? You'll make tons of money on the extra concessions too. Make it so that any empty seat can be filled with a $10 ticket after the third inning or something. That way people aren't just waiting to get into the game for $10, but instead are still buying regular tickets so that they can see the whole thing.

Just a thought.

The weather here really sucks. Isn't it spring time? Wasn't it 70 degrees 2 weeks ago? Why is it below freezing and snowing for days at a time then?

What the crap?!?

Also, I hate school. I did get the application for graduation though and I registered for my last two classes. That is good. I'll be in school in the fall on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:00 PM - 9:15 PM... and then... done. Finished. Over. No more school.

I cannot wait. I'm practically salivating at the thought.

We took a tour of the reception hall as it was all decked out for a wedding today. It was cold, but it was still nice. We also got to check out the inside of the church. Lastly, we had dinner at the restaurant that is going to cater the rehearsal dinner.

On top of that, I got to miss out on the many inches of snow falling on Cleveland Ohio. Enough snow that they cancelled two Indians games. I would be lying if I said that I missed that snow. Here I awoke to people saying "It's snowing." I looked out the window and sure enough, somewhere out there was a flake of snow. Maybe two. Crazy I tell you!

Here's the upcoming schedule of events. It's quite busy.

This weekend (4/6/07), Lindsay and I will be in Maryland. My mom, step-dad, and brother are going up to Lindsay's parents house for Easter.

Next weekend (4/13/07), Lindsay and I will again be in Maryland. This time we're doing a taste test with the caterer and attending a wedding.

4/20/07 - We'll potentially be going down to Columbus to visit my aunt and uncle.

4/27/07 - Lindsay will be recovering from a minor (is there such a thing?) surgery

5/4/07 - I will be in Atlantic City for Justin's bachelor party. Lindsay will be in Maryland for a bridal shower.

5/11/07 - Lindsay is in a wedding and I will be attending said wedding. Thankfully, it's in Cleveland.

5/18/07 - Lindsay and I will be again in Maryland. Another bridal shower. I'll be hanging out with her dad.

5/25/07 - Dylan graduates this weekend, and it's our birthday, so Lindsay and I will be in South Carolina for the weekend.

6/1/07 - Lindsay is having her bachelorette party this weekend. I may have my bachelor party this weekend, but someone needs to step up and start planning it.

6/8/07 - Lindsay is done with school. That means it's fun with packing time!

6/15/07 - More fun with packing time! Fun with moving time begins too! And hopefully ends...

6/22/07 - I'm in Justin's wedding this week in New York and the day after we're attending a wedding in Delaware.

6/29/07 - Lindsay goes to Maryland for last minute wedding stuff. The countdown begins. The new renters move in to Lindsay's house.

7/3/07 - I head off to Maryland for the pre-wedding festivities.

7/8/08 - We head off to Jamaica and finally get to relax for a weekend without having to do something or go anywhere. Yay!

I play for the Indians.
Here in Cleveland? I didn't know they still had a team!
Yup, we've got uniforms and everything, it's really great!

It's baseball time again in Cleveland, so naturally that means it's time for another snowstorm. There's nothing quite like watching baseball in a blizzard.

The ball is a bit harder to follow, so you get to be entertained by people dropping like flies as they get hit in the heads with foul balls.

So far, I've got no complaints about the Indians. I think they could do some damage this year. The AL Central will certainly be difficult however. The reduced expectations could actually help them though. I think that the top 4 teams in the AL Central could all be within 6 games of each other at the end of the season. I doubt that any one team is really going to run away with anything. I'm also skeptical of the Tigers. I think that they're a one year wonder, and I have them finishing fourth. They'll still be good, just that their pitching will not be close to last year.

Here's my official predictions for the AL Central

1. Indians
2. White Sox
3. Twins
4. Tigers
5. Royals

Hooray for school again. Check out how great this is... I got an A on my last marketing paper, so according to the professor "I am privileged to be able to write another paper." The people who got less than an A just have to correct and re-submit their old paper. Those with A's have to write an entirely new paper though.

< SARCASM >

Yay! He is a good teacher! Hooray for learning! I feel blessed and privileged to be learning from such greatness.

Just in case you wanted to see my wounded pasty leg...

Let us examine, for a moment, the current and upcoming weather of northeast Ohio.

I do believe that the picture speaks for itself.
Last night the knee really acted up. I can't remember the last time something hurt that badly. Everything was going fine and then out of nowhere, it just started throbbing. I had let it dry out and went for a walk with Lindsay. During that time, it ached a little, but nothing very bad. When we got back I sat down for about 2 minutes and everything tightened up. It was like it was scabbing over in real time (a pretty picture, I know) and any movement at all was very painful.

Not good.

Right now it seems to be doing okay though. I can walk around, and while it's still throbbing a bit, it's nothing compared to what it was last night.

Maybe I'll post a disgusting picture of it.

Monday, April 2, 2007

I crashed my bike yesterday and in the process did a pretty good number on my knee. It looks pretty disgusting still. Hopefully it won't take too long to heal though. I'm able to walk on it without much discomfort. Going up and down stairs is a pain, but still possible.

It could've been much much worse. This is why you're supposed to wear knee and elbow pads and a helmet when you're bike riding. I had none of the above. I am an idiot.
